Windows 2008 has added a new subset within Group Policy management with preferences.  I was trying to see if Windows 2008 had a better way of doing drive mappings per Groups instead of the old ‘IFMEMBER’ method when I stumbled upon this blog article The Death of IFMEMBER.  Wow did it open my eyes to the various possibilities of Group Preferences.

Group Preferences are broken down to Computer configuration and User configuration and works similar to the policies but provides more targeted settings.  Below I show some of the screenshots of creating Drive Mappings based on Group Membership.
